Altered cerebral venous architecture is a possible mechanism that may contribute to a compromised venous blood flow pattern in MS patients. Natural variations at junction located between the great cerebral vein (GCV) and the straight sinus (Ss) located within the cerebral venous drainage system can potentially exacerbate MS progression. Journal of Surgery -  JuniperPublishers The History of Platelet Rich Fibrin (hemocomponents) started in 1970, when Matras described a fibrin glue, formed by polymerizing fibrinogen with thrombin and calcium, which was used to improve skin wound healing in a rat model in 1970 [1]. Because of the low concentration of fibrinogen in plasma, the stability and quality of fibrin glue were low. A few years later several research works proposed an upgraded concept for the use of blood extracts, termed “platelet-fibrinogen-thrombin mixtures” or “gelatin platelet - gel foam” [2,3]. In this new concept, the fibrin glues were presenting a significant concentration of platelets within the final preparation. The idea was first to reinforce naturally the fibrin gel, and also to combine the healing properties of the platelets with those of the fibrin.   Journal of Surgery -  JuniperPublishers Introduction Forced air warming (FAW) devices are used in the operating room to helpmaintain normothermia during anesthesia and prevent complications of hypothermia. Proper use involves connecting the hose of the warming unit to a disposable blanket with a perforation pattern that evenly distributes heat across the patient’s body. Multiple studies have shown the efficacy of FAW devices to be better than other widely used interventions such as circulating water mattresses [1]. However, as with most medical interventions there is a potential for complications with FAW devices. We present the case of a FAW device that malfunctioned after it became wet, depositing black soot on the patient.
